Application: DMX Controller App (the “App”)

Developer: William Martin III (“we,” “us,” or “our”)

Last updated: July 5, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles information. We designed the App to keep your data on your own device. Please read this policy together with our Terms of Service.

1. Summary

The App is currently a local lighting-control tool that runs on your device. It does not require an account, and we do not collect, sell, or share your personal information. Your projects, fixture definitions, and configuration are stored locally on your device and any storage you choose. If this changes in the future, we will update this Policy as described in Section 9.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, location, precise device identifiers, or the contents of your lighting projects. We do not use third-party advertising, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

3. Information Stored on Your Device

The App stores the data you create and configure — such as projects, scenes, shows, fixture patches, controller mappings, imported audio, and imported fixture definition files — locally on your device or in storage locations you select. This data stays under your control, and we do not have access to it. You can remove data you have created by deleting the relevant files. Note that uninstalling the App may not automatically remove all data it has stored on your device; if you wish to remove such data completely, you are responsible for deleting any files that remain.

4. Device Access and Permissions

The App may request access to certain features of your device in order to function. Any such access is used only to provide the App’s features, and the information involved is processed on your device and is not sent to us unless expressly stated in this Policy.

Local network and hardware. To send lighting control data, the App may access local hardware and networks — for example, connected serial/USB DMX interfaces, MIDI devices, and devices on your local network reachable via sACN/E1.31 or WLED. This communication happens directly between your device and your equipment on your local network and is used solely to transmit lighting control signals.

Microphone and audio input. If you use audio-responsive or beat-synchronized features, the App accesses your microphone or a selected audio input device to analyze incoming sound in real time (for example, to detect tempo and drive lighting effects). This audio is processed on your device and is not recorded, stored, or transmitted to us. You can decline or revoke microphone access through your operating system’s settings, though audio-responsive features will not work without it.

Files and storage. The App reads and writes files that you choose or create — such as project files and imported audio or fixture definitions — on your device’s file system or in storage locations you select, so that it can save and load your work. See Section 3 for more about data stored on your device.

5. Distribution Platforms

If you obtain the App through an application marketplace or distribution platform, that platform may collect certain information (such as purchase, download, or crash information) in accordance with its own privacy policy. Any such collection is governed by that platform, not by us. When you download the App directly (for example, from our source code repository), we do not collect any information about you.

6. Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Data Security

Because your data remains on your device, its security depends on the security of your device and any storage or backup services you use. We encourage you to protect your device with a passcode and to keep your operating system up to date.

8. Your Rights

Since we do not collect or store your personal information, there is generally no personal data held by us for you to access, correct, or delete. You control the data stored by the App directly on your device. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA; you may contact us with any such request.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, including if we add features that collect, transmit, store, or share data — for example, optional cloud backup, synchronization, sharing, or analytics. If we add such features, we will update this Policy to describe what data is involved before or at the time those features become available, and where required by law we will ask for your consent. The “Last updated” date above reflects the current version, and material changes will be reflected on this page.
